Bad Asses on the Bayou

PLOT:

Frank Vega and Bernie Pope return, this time to Louisiana in an attempt to find a kidnapped friend

What people are saying:

“”We need your help. This is a small town, we don’t get to many of these types of crime around here.” “This isn’t LA, this is Baton Rouge.” Frank Vega (Trejo) and Bernie Pope (Glover) have been invited to the wedding of the daughter of an old friend. What starts off has a happy occasion changes when she is kidnapped. When the cops aren’t doing enough Frank and Bernie take matters into their own hands and as usual, will stop at nothing to fix things. This is a series that I can’t believe is still going. I’m not saying they are bad movies, just more unnecessary. Trejo has a huge cult following and Glover seems to have fallen a long way since Lethal Weapon, but they both fit will together. As far as the movie goes, it’s basically the same thing as the other two. Two old guys fighting for what is right and a decent blend of humor and action. Overall, if you liked the first two you will like this one. Generic but somewhat entertaining.” 3 stars

“Coasts on the limited demands of Redbox renters looking for something to fall asleep with on a Friday night. ” 1 star

“This isn’t a typical action movie, it’s much more of a comedy movie, so if you’re looking for action – go elsewhere. The one liners that get tossed about are funny and yes the acting could use a bit more…but overall enjoyed the movie and definitely did a lot of laughing through it. Glover and Trego never fail to hit the punch line in this movie. I pulled it up on netflix for a ‘look-see’ if it would be any good or not, and once the show started, it had us watching and laughing throughout. I imagine some of the bad reviews are from people that wanted a serious action film and this one is no where close, it’s actually a bit fake in one scene when there’s a lot of shooting going on, but again it fits the comedy part of the show.” 3 stars

“I love Glover and Trejo but this is too much; poor everything, direction, plot. dialogue, all stink worse than a Louisiana refinery leak. Obviously some Baton Rouge oil zillionaires wanted to showcase their town so they financed this miserable excuse for a film. Guess Glover and Trejo couldn’t pass up on the easy paycheck. But you should waste your time on something more productive, like watching artificial grass grow.” 1/2 star

“I love the Bad Ass and Bad Asses movies and when I found out that there was a third coming out I was happy. After the first scene, Bad Asses 3: On The Bayou had me smiling from ear to ear. Danny Trejo and Danny Glover are a classic team, they are funny together as ass whooping crotchety old men. The writing is really well done; this film has the same flow of over the top action, comedy, and overacting fun. Yes this film is predictable and the C.G. is very cheesy but it’s a low beget and it adds to the charm. It’s unfortunate that these movies are forgettable and a lot of people shy away on this movies because they are not familiar with the franchise or because it’s independent. This film has heart which some big movies don’t have. If you haven’t seen the last two films (Bad Ass and Bad Asses) you most likely won’t enjoy this film. These movies are not to be taken too seriously, sit back, have some fun and laughs. They leave it open for a fourth movie but I think they should have capped the franchise off with this film. Either way you can count on me reviewing the fourth film if so. Bad Asses 3 is another good reason not to always reject independent sequels. Cheers and remember life won’t suck as long as there is a good movie to watch.” 4 stars
